TRADE & INVESTMENT FACILITATION

The first objective in the IORA Charter states that IORA needs “to promote the sustained growth and balanced development of the region and of the Member States, and to create common ground for regional economic co-operation”. Trade and Investment Facilitation is therefore an integral part of IORA.

BUILDING TRADE INTEGRATION DYNAMICS IN THE INDIAN OCEAN RIM ASSOCIATION: A TECHNICAL ANALYSIS

With the multilateral trading system at an impasse most economies have turned to regional trade cooperation frameworks to boost trade and investment and foster
economic growth. The vast region encompassing Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) member states links major sea-lanes and is home to key global and regional transportation hubs. Twenty-two years after IORA’s formal establishment, its member states should consider deeper and more meaningful trade and investment cooperation initiatives.

BILATERAL AND REGIONAL TRADE AND INVESTMENT RELATED AGREEMENTS AND DIALOGUES BETWEEN MEMBERS STATES

This study analyses the existing and ongoing dialogues on bilateral trade and investment related agreements in IORA in reference to economic growth, socio-economic and demographic conditions, trade performance, trade flows, and FDI flows in IORA.

IORA SELECTED ECONOMIC INDICATORS

This report presents information which Euromonitor International has made available to the Australian Chamber of Commerce, in order to provide a snapshot of a number of selected economic indicators which might assist IORA members and dialogue partners to be informed and consider the potential opportunities and priority areas for further consideration to achieve the IORA Charter objectives.

MODERNISING TRADE IN THE INDIAN OCEAN RIM CONFERENCE

The  Modernising Trade in the Indian Ocean Rim Conference was hosted by South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in June 2019. The conference welcomed 220 participants from 19 IORA Member States and six Dialogue Partners.
