SA IORAG Funding Opportunities

Open Funding Calls: In order to support the activities of IORAG, the Secretariat, guided by the Steering Committee, will  launch calls for projects aimed at the IORAG Stakeholder Network.

Requests for funding: Researchers* may request funding from the Secretariat for:

a)      Small funding grants to undertake desktop studies or produce information booklets by an individual or group, with a limit up to R100 000. These projects must have an academic publication as an output.

b)     Larger funding grants as seed funding to apply for the IORA Special Fund**. These projects must have at least one academic publication as an output.

All projects must be in an IORA priority area or cross-cutting area***, and regional or sub-regional in scale.

*The Principal Investigator must be affiliated with a nationally recognized university or research institution. Consideration should be given to including
early career researchers in the project.

**This co-funding will depend on the availability of funding within the SA IORAG. Please see the IORA Special Fund webpage for further details: https://www.iora.int/en/special-fund.  The SA IORAG Secretariat can also be requested to assist with requesting funding from IORA Member States and Dialogue Partners should additional funding be required to meet the terms of the Special Fund.
